Clinton Police Chief Encourages Safety When Traveling to School

The local Police Department wants to make sure that children and parents alike remember personal safety now that school is back in session.

Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers explains this time of year is perfect for parents to sit down and discuss safety issues with their children. He adds the new Clinton Elementary School will add a new layer to local safety for school kids this year. Travel to and from school are critical times to understand about safety according to the Chief. He notes any deviation from a usual schedule needs to be communicated to either the parent or child.

Chief Lowers says it's imperative that kids know where the safe streets to cross will be. Bus traffic should be greater this year as well in that area. Reduced speed limits and limited cell phone usage will also be enforced with school in session. The Chief also discourages anyone from passing a stop arm on a school bus.
