USC CB Injured Rescuing Nephew; The U Names Starting QB

(Los Angeles, CA) -- USC will be without cornerback Josh Shaw after he injured both of his ankles while saving his seven-year-old nephew from drowning. Shaw jumped from a second-floor balcony window at a family party Saturday night after he saw his nephew in distress in a nearby swimming pool. After sustaining the injuries, Shaw was able to crawl into the pool and bring his nephew to safety. The senior corner is out indefinitely with two high ankle sprains. Shaw was named team captain this past weekend. The 15th-ranked Trojans open their season this Saturday at home against Fresno State.

(Coral Gables, FL) -- True freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya [[ KY-uh ]] will be under center for the Miami Hurricanes in Week One. Head coach Al Golden made the announcement Sunday. Kaaya will start over transfer Jake Heaps. Heaps was coming over from Kansas last season after two years at BYU. The Hurricanes begin the regular season September 1st against the Cardinals in Louisville.
