(Cincinnati, OH) -- Jorge Soler had a monster debut, but the Cubs lost 7-5 to the Reds in Cincinnati. Soler homered in his first at-bat and finished 2-for-4 with two RBI for Chicago, which saw a four-game win streak end. Jacob Turner took the loss after giving up six runs in under four frames. The series ends today.

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Ike Davis belted a two-run homer and Jeff Locke pitched one-run ball into the eighth inning as the Pirates beat the Cardinals 3-1 at PNC Park. Davis delivered his 10th home run of the season in the second inning and Andrew McCutchen added a sac-fly in the third for Pittsburgh, which won the final two games of the three-game set. Locke allowed just a solo homer to Matt Holliday among six hits over seven-and-a-third innings to improve to 6-and-3. Mark Melancon [[ meh-LAN-son ]] posted his 24th save. Adam Wainwright gave up three runs in six frames to fall to 15-and-9 with the loss for St. Louis.
