Local Couple Biking For Charity

width=A local couple is taking part in an annual bike ride that will benefit a group they are very passionate about.

The "Stop the Cycle of Abuse" ride to benefit local chapters of the Childrens Advocacy Centers, is going on it's third, and final run locally. Steve and Dana Lobb got involved last year and say they are gearing up for yet another go round. Steve indicates last year's ride went from Chicago to St. Louis, however, this year's may be a little more tame in comparison.

Getting behind the cause was not something Steve says was a hard choice. He believes child abuse is something everyone knows about, but he feels taking part in the "Stop the Cycle of Abuse" is an easy way to do a simple act of awareness raising, while at the same time doing some fundraising.

After last year's ride from Chicago to St. Louis, Lobb became more involved in the local Children Advocacy Center organization. He now serves on the organization's state board, which is where the money from last year's event went. However, in 2014, the proceeds are going to the Advocacy Center office in Bloomington, which also serves DeWitt County.

The ride for 2014 is September 19-22 and according to Lobb, to take part in all three days, they have to raise a certain amount of money. He notes they have surpassed their goal for that, and are now just trying to raise as much money as possible, because he says it will effect kids in DeWitt County.

To help the Lobb's in their pursuit of providing financial help to the Childrens Advocacy Center, you can visit www.cyclingforkids.net. Lobb says any donation is never too big or too small. Lobb is grateful for the support he's received from the community in his previous efforts and for those who have helped this year as well.
