The Clinton Lady Maroons volleyball team and coach Megan Mitchell both added their first win to the column by beating the El Paso-Gridley Titans in non-conference action Tuesday night. 

Clinton lost the first game 22-25. They then rallied to crush the Titans 25-11 in the second game. The final game was much closer with the Lady Maroons escaping with a 25-20 victory.

Taylor Filkin, middle hitter for the Maroons, provided 23 kills and had one block. Payton Bieber and Faythe Newberry also added a block apiece. Bieber and Haley Ginger both had an ace. Ginger also had 23 digs while Michaela Elliot contributed 23 assists.

Taylor Filkin believes the team will be successful this year because a majority of the girls on the team have been playing together for many years.

Coach Megan Mitchell was glad to get her first win. She was pleased with the success of her team but says there is still room for improvement.
