Rauner Criticizes Quinn On Veterans

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner (ROW-nur) is going after Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn's record on veterans.

Rauner says a lack of economic growth under Quinn's administration has led to high unemployment among veterans. He also alleges patronage hiring has left out job candidates who are veterans. He didn't provide an estimate of how many or detail examples.

Quinn had long touted his record on veterans issues, particularly with homeownership and jobs.

He told reporters Tuesday that Illinois has the most veteran friendly programs in the country.

Rauner launched a veterans coalition the same day at a news conference with U.S. Sen Mark Kirk.
