No Appointment For Vacant District B Seat On County Board Agenda

width=The DeWitt County Board agenda released late Tuesday by the County Clerk's office has no motion for appointment to the District B seat that has been vacant since late June.

The first September meeting for the DeWitt County Board has no mention of filling the seat left vacant by the passing of Tom Pruser in late June.

The County Board has gone back and forth in recent meetings about who to appoint to fill the vacancy. Board Chair Sherrie Brown motioned to appoint Jeff Gibbs, but Gibbs unexpectedly declined the appointment in late August saying it was the right thing to do.

The DeWitt County Republican Central Committee has been pushing Brown to appoint Christie Pruser, the widow to Tom who passed in a farming accident June 26.

Pruser also served on the Clinton Board of Education, who filled his seat over a month ago when Russell Long was sworn in.

Also on the agenda for Thursday's meeting is a motion to approve a Resolution in support of Salveo Health and Wellness, LTD to apply for a medical marijuana cultivation facility.

A motion is on the agenda to schedule a special budget meeting with Dee Dee Rentmeister for clarification on how the budget process works.

The Board will also discuss slip rental rates for 2015.
