The final event of the FedExCup Playoffs begins this week, as the top 30 players on the playoff points list qualified for the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Ga. Chris Kirk is in the top spot with 4,314 points, followed by Billy Horschel with 4,305, Bubba Watson with 4,058, World No. 1 Rory McIlroy with 3,735, and Hunter Mahan with 3,363. Mahan captured the first playoff event, The Barclays; Kirk won the second playoff event at the Deutsche Bank Championship; and Horschel captured the BMW Championship. The points are reset prior to this
tournament. Kirk leads with 2,500 points, followed by Horschel with 2,250, Watson with 2,000, McIlroy with 1,800, and Mahan with 1,600.

The top five players (Kirk, Horschel, Watson, McIlroy and Mahan) on the points list can win the FedExCup if they win this tournament. Other players outside of the top five need to win and have other scenarios take place in order to capture the Cup.

>>McIlroy Says Tiger, Phil "Just Getting Older"

(Atlanta, GA) -- Rory McIlroy isn't ready to proclaim himself the new face of golf, but acknowledges that longtime stars Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson may be slowing down. It's the first time in more than 20 years than neither Woods or Mickelson qualified for the TOUR Championship, which begins Thursday in Atlanta. It's the finale of the four-event FedEx Cup playoffs. The field is normally comprised of the top-30 in FedEx Cup points but this year's field is just 29, with Dustin Johnson taking a leave of absence for personal issues.
