Central Illinois Conference Football Team Creates Unwelcome Noise

width=Gib Smart wishes the high school football team in Shelbyville could turn down the noise just a bit.

The Shelbyville Rams beat Clinton last Friday 50-19. And after every score the booster club set off fireworks.

According to reports, that has people complaining to Smart, a member of the City Council in the eastern Illinois town, about the noise.

Mayor Jeff Johnson said he gave the booster club permission for the fireworks. He said the club met the required conditions.

Smart accepts that the boosters will be launching more fireworks. But he wonders whether the team might hold down the scoring just a bit to limit the noise, and the complaints.
