IHSA Hearings Continue This Week

Round Two of the Illinois General Assembly’s questioning for the Illinois High School Association is set for this week. The hearing scheduled for this Friday is after IHSA was questioned by the Elementary and Secondary Education Committee back in May.

Back then lawmakers aired questions about IHSA’s structure and use of resources when it comes to organizing sporting events and activities. There was so much interest about the private not-for-profit organization, the hearing had to be moved to a larger room.

The upcoming hearing is scheduled for October 3rd at South Shore International High School on the Southeast Side of Chicago, just a few hours before kids take to the field under Friday night lights for high school football.

As of Sunday evening over six-hundred-fifty witness slips opposing the meeting were filed at My.ILGA.gov. HighSchoolClubNews.com says state lawmakers have other pressing issues like a school funding formula some say needs reformed or growing public sector pension liabilities.

IHSA has been around for over one-hundred-thirteen years.
