Rauner Expresses Concern With IHSA Hearings

With a month before the election, the Illinois General Assembly has scheduled its second public hearing involving the operations of the IHSA. The first one was held in May.

Illinois Republican governor candidate Bruce Rauner says he's not interested in any type of state takeover or oversite of the IHSA. He says there are more pressing concerns for the state to deal with.

Rauner made his comments to WRMJ during a stop in New Windsor last month. The IHSA announced Monday that it will have no official presence at Friday's Elementary & Secondary Education Committee hearing--scheduled for Chicago. The notice came via a video announcement to member schools from Executive Director Marty Hickman after he was informed that the IHSA will be unable to testify or call witnesses during the hearing.
