If you've got ideas to improve downtown Jacksonville, Illinois, grab a pad and pencil.
A 15-year plan to revitalize the business district in the central Illinois city ends next spring. The commerce-boosting group Jacksonville Main Street will host a meeting Friday night for anyone with a vision and sturdy walking shoes.
The group's executive director is Judy Tighe. According to reports, she says a walking tour from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. will give residents a chance to identify areas for improvement in the downtown's 44 square blocks.
Tighe expects to discuss issues such as lighting and parking.
The 15-year plan's major goal was reversing a 1974 urban renewal project which restricted traffic and Tighe says created dark and dangerous places for pedestrians.
