DeWitt County Board Candidate Questions Member About Survey Letter

A letter sent out by a DeWitt County Board member was questioned at last night's board meeting.

Thursday's meeting saw Randy Perring, District B Candidate for County Board, confront Board Member George Wismiller regarding a letter sent out to all candidates. Perring said Wismiller's letter presented a survey regarding a candidate's stance on issues involving the Clinton Landfill. The candidate added he's all for clean drinking water. Wismiller is also Vice President of the group, WATCH.

Perring asked Wismiller if the letter was politically motivated somehow. The board member said he was an independent who is choosing not to run again which should prove it's not political. Wismiller's current residency has been the topic of discussion for several months now and was brought up again Thursday.

Board Member Camille Redman asked Perring to read the security access code that Wismiller placed on the letter. She had a copy of another candidate's letter with a different code. Board Members Sue May-Whitted and Doug Tucker also received letters due to their running for re-election.

Perring concluded by mentioning that Wismiller, who represents District B along with Keith Koons, has not been representing his constituents to the fullest. The third seat for District B, left vacant by the death of Tom Pruser, remains vacant.

Thursday night's meeting lasted less than an hour. The Board also approved the motion for G&H Marine to move Dock 4 at the Clinton Lake Marina and temporary anchor.
