Snowfall In Rockford Just Misses Record

Snow made an appearance in Rockford earlier in the fall than all but one time since they started keeping records.

According to reports, snow started falling early Saturday morning - just one day after the earliest snow on record fell in the city on Oct. 3, 1951.

The snow and wind have added up to temperatures that if they stay in the low 40s as expected, will give this Oct. 4 the coldest high temperature on record.

Snowflakes also fell in Chicago on Saturday. The National Weather Service says that is earlier than every Oct. 4 in 130 years except for the same date in 1928 and 1944.
