Clinton PD Welcomes New Officer

 width=Monday night Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers introduced the Clinton City Council and the community members on hand to the newest member of his force.

Mike Bennett is a Clinton-native and according to Chief Lowers is someone he has worked with in prior years and comes to the community from Heyworth, where he was instrumental in many popular and effective programs.

Mike's son pinned his badge after he took his oath of office and many other members of the Clinton Police Department were on hand as well.

In other business from the Monday night meeting:

>>Greg Myroth with AMEC gave an update on the extensive sewer project work that is nearing completion.

>>The Council approved the reclassification for liquor licenses to be acquired by for banquet halls. That motion passed 4-0, Commissioner Nan Crang abstained. She is part owner of the Copper and Brass Room on Clinton's south side.

>>The Council approved the preliminary planning and design for a fire station through the Farnsworth group. Those costs were not to exceed $11,200. We'll have more on this story later this week on Regional Radio News.
