(Chicago, IL) -- After playing in the FIBA World Championships this summer, Bulls guard Derrick Rose took the next step as he prepares for the NBA season. Rose played in the Bulls' preseason opener against the Wizards Monday Night at the United Center. In 14 minutes, Rose scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting with four assists and three rebounds. Chicago plays its second exhibition game Tuesday night at the Pistons.

(San Diego, CA) -- Kobe Bryant looked fantastic in his return to the court for the Lakers in preseason action. After air balling his first shot, Bryant went on to score 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting with five assists and two rebounds in 21 minutes. Los Angeles beat the Nuggets 98-95 in San Diego. Bryant only played in six games last season due to various injuries.

(Independence, OH) -- After the NBA struck a multi-billion-dollar TV deal, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James says the owners cannot cry poor in the next labor negotiations. The league announced a new nine-year television package that will pay the league north of 25-billion-dollars. James told reporters that owners claimed they were losing money in the last negotiations, but the new television deal and the amount being paid for franchises tells a different story. The current CBA came to be in December 2011 following a 161-day lockout. The league claimed it was losing 300-million annually, with 22 out of the 30 owners operating at a loss. The current collective bargaining agreement will be up in 2017.
