Community Group Formed To Analyze Maroa-Forsyth Schools Budgets

The Maroa-Forsyth school district has recently received some heat from the community about the school's finances and district leaders are hoping a new transparency measure will help remedy the situation.

A financial advisory panel has been constructed in the district made up of mostly community members and a few leaders from within the school district. According to Mike Williams, Superintendent of Maroa-Forsyth Schools, the group is going to review past budgets and present suggestions for the Board of Education going forward.

Last year, Maroa-Forsyth schools put in effect major cuts to the budget and Williams wants to be open and honest with the community. He feels the cuts need to be explained and the circumstances of why there are certain expenses that may look appealing to cut.

Williams feels this process is all about getting information out to the community and being up front and honest about the budgeting process within the school district.

He notes last year's major cuts were posted on the district's website and they even held community forums to get the information to the public.
