(Rocky Mount, NC) -- A North Carolina high school football star celebrated his commitment to the University of Florida earlier this week, only to learn he was duped. The "Rocky Mount Telegram" reports defensive end Houshun Gaines announced at Nash Central High School he'd be joining the Gators. Gaines believed he was communicating with coaches from Florida on Twitter, though it turns out it was an impostor. The University of Florida could not comment due to NCAA rules. Gaines seemed to make light of the incident on Twitter, replying to a follower who referenced former Notre Dame star Manti Teo [[ MAN-tie TAY-oh ]] by tweeting, "At least you didn't get catfished into thinking you had a girlfriend."
