(New York, NY) -- Packers linebacker Julius Peppers is the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week Five. Peppers recorded three tackles, a half-sack and returned an interception 49 yards for a touchdown in Green Bay's 42-10 rout of Minnesota last Thursday.

(Lake Forest, IL) -- The Bears are getting ready for Sunday's matchup with the Falcons. Eight players did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Linebackers Jonathan Bostic and Lance Briggs were out with a back and ribs injury, respectively.  width=Matt Forte's absence was not injury related according to the official injury report.

>>Colts Take On Texans For First Place In AFC South

(Houston, TX) -- First place in the AFC South is on the line tonight as the Indianapolis Colts take on the Houston Texans in the NFL's Thursday night game at NRG Stadium. Both teams are 3-and-2 on the season. The Colts have won three straight over the Jaguars, Titans and Ravens after an 0-and-2 start. Indianapolis has beaten Houston the last three meetings and has won nine in-a-row playing on Thursday night. The Texans are coming off a 20-17 overtime loss at Dallas, their third road game in four weeks. Star wide receiver Andre Johnson is still seeking his first touchdown and 100-yard game of the season.

>>Prosecutors In Peterson Case Asking Judge To Be Recused

(Conroe, TX) -- Prosecutors in the Adrian Peterson child abuse case are filing a motion to recuse Judge Kelly Case for calling both state's attorney Brett Ligon and Peterson's lead lawyer Rusty Hardin "media whores." Case apologized to both men Wednesday. A hearing on whether Judge Case will be removed is set for November 4th. If the judge is not removed, Peterson's trial will begin December 1st. A decision on his recusal has yet been to be made. Peterson has been accused of beating his four-year-old son with a stick, leaving cuts and bruises on the preschooler. Peterson's lawyer also asked the court that the case be heard quickly so Peterson can resume his career and restore his reputation.

 width=>>Broncos' Julius Thomas Fined For Chop Block

(Denver, CO) -- The NFL is fining Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas for his chop block on Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell. ESPN reports the league is docking Thomas more than 82-hundred-dollars for the hit that left Campbell with an MCL sprain. The play drew a flag and the NFL said on Monday that the officiating crew in Denver made the right call. It was deemed an illegal chop-block because Thomas blocked Campbell in the thigh or lower leg while he was engaged up high with Broncos left tackle Ryan Clady. Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians called it the dirtiest play he's ever seen.

>>Bengals WR Green Leaves Practice After Aggravating Toe Injury

(Cincinnati, OH) -- Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green left Wednesday's practice after aggravating a toe injury. He stopped during warmups for practice and threw his helmet down before taking of his shoe and also throwing that to the ground. Green was then carted away. He was originally hurt during the season opener against Baltimore and left the following week's game against Atlanta in the first quarter without catching a pass. Green played each of the last two weeks and has 17 catches for 314 yards and two touchdowns this season. The 3-and-1 Bengals host the 3-and-2 Carolina Panthers this Sunday.

>>Calvin Johnson Dealing With High Ankle Sprain

(Allen Park, MI) -- The status for Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is in doubt for the team's Week Six matchup at the Vikings. Johnson re-aggravated a high right ankle sprain during their loss to the Bills this past weekend. He did not practice on Wednesday. Head coach Jim Caldwell mentioned the possibility of resting his star wideout this week to get him healthy for the rest of the season.

>>Raiders Carr Expects To Play

(Alameda, CA) -- Raiders quarterback Derek Carr expects to be back on the field for their Week Six game with the Chargers in Oakland on Sunday. Carr practiced on Sunday as he recovers from ankle and knee injuries. The Raiders had a bye this past week after Carr wasn't able to finish the team's loss to the Dolphins in Week Four.

>>Second Sexual Assault Case Reportedly Surfaces Against C.J. Spillman

(Irving, TX) -- There may be another sexual assault case against Cowboys defensive back C.J. Spillman. The "New York Daily News" reports attorney Gloria Allred claims Spillman groped a massage therapist last December while with the San Francisco 49ers. Spillman was never charged with a crime and denied the alleged incident happened. Grapevine police are investigating whether Spillman attacked a woman last month at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. He hasn't been arrested or charged.
