Bruce Rauner (ROW'-nur) saturated TV airwaves with jabs at Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn and promises to "shake up Springfield" when he roared into the Illinois governor's race last year.
With the Nov. 4 election now weeks away, both Rauner and Quinn are trying to persuade voters they're the outsider who can bring much-needed change to Illinois.
Rauner touts his independence and background as a businessman - not a politician - as a central selling point. He says he doesn't need money from special interests. He won't take a paycheck or a pension.
Rauner says: "I'm not part of the system, and I can stand up and fight against it."
The Winnetka venture capitalist sometimes shows up to campaign events on his Harley.
Quinn says his policies will hurt working people.
