Decatur Police Say Man Robbed Grandmother of $20

Police have arrested a 23-year-old Decatur man who they say broke into his grandmother's home and stole a $20 bill.

According to reports, the suspect was arrested early Monday morning and is now being held in jail on preliminary charges of robbery and criminal damage to property. The robbery occurred on July 20.

Police say the 76-year-old woman was napping on her couch when her grandson and an unidentified woman broke into her house. Police say the man forcibly searched his grandmother's pockets when she initially denied him money. They say the suspect stole $20 and a bottle of prescription anxiety medication.

According to authorities, the man fled his grandmother's home when she pressed a security alarm.

The suspect was being held on $50,000 bond.
