One local park is gearing up for an eventful winter season.

Monticello's Allerton Park is planning many exciting opportunities for visitors starting in December. The holiday season will see a possible breakfast with Santa for the kids and a holiday gala for adults. Matt Smith, with Allerton Park, explains the event will be an opportunity for many local businesses to participate as well as kick off the holidays. He adds open houses this winter will allow for community participation as well.

Smith notes the park is planning to bring back some of the traditional decor they were known for a couple decades ago. While they plan to make the decorations more relevant for today, he says they hope to create a family-filled atmosphere this holiday season.

One of the major draws for Allerton during winter are holiday parties. Smith says activity slows down a bit during the winter months, but there are always plenty of activities taking place. Wintertime also provides the staff with opportunities to regroup for the next year.
