State Rep Raymond Poe is scheduled to have a stem cell transplant to replace his bone marrow. He has a rare blood condition and has been receiving transfusions to offset his low-production of red blood cells. Poe has been struggling with the issue since last May. He'll be heading down to Houston, Texas for the procedure later this month. Poe will need to stay at the hospital for at least three weeks after the surgery. He'll also have a pretty extended recovery period. Poe's office will still be open while he's gone.
