A longtime political reporter for the "Chicago Sun-Times" is walking away from his job amid a potential scandal. Dave McKinney was recently suspended after breaking news that "Sun-Times" former part-owner Bruce Rauner once threatened to ruin a female executive with ties to his firm. Rauner's campaign team tried to stop the story from going to print, but the editors ran it anyway and said McKinney is an upstanding journalist. Even so, McKinney says he has serious doubts about the paper's commitment to journalism. He's hired former U.S. Attorney Patrick Collins to investigate whether Rauner tried to interfere with his employment.
Rauner is in a heated race against Governor Quinn.
