Gus Edwards had 115 yards on the ground with two touchdowns and Brad Kaaya added a TD through the air in the win.

Marshawn Williams rushed for 100 yards on 21 carries for Virginia Tech (4-4, 1-3), which has lost two straight following a two-game winning streak.

>>Eastern Carolina Escapes UConn

Shane Carden threw for a season-high 445 yards with two touchdowns and No. 18 East Carolina held off upset-minded Connecticut with a 31-21 win on Thursday.

Carden, who had three straight games of 400-plus passing yards earlier this season, completed 38 passes on a career-high 64 attempts with one interception.

Breon Allen rushed for 65 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns to help the heavily-favored Pirates (6-1, 3-0 AAC) win their fifth straight game.

Justin Hardy recorded season highs with 14 receptions and 186 yards with a touchdown in the win.

Chandler Whitmer threw for 303 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, while also recording a rushing score for the Huskies (1-6, 0-4), who have now lost five straight games and have yet to beat an FBS opponent this season.

>>Cal Hosts Top 10 Opponent, Oregon

width=The sixth-ranked Oregon Ducks will put the California Golden Bears to the test in a Pac-12 Conference clash at the brand new Levi's Stadium, home of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.

After falling to Arizona (31-24) at the beginning of the month, Oregon has rallied with convincing wins over UCLA (42-30) and Washington (45-20). Last weekend's victory over the Huskies propelled the Ducks to No. 6 in the national rankings, and has many slotting them back into the College Football Playoff picture. They are also right in the mix for the Pac-12 title, with a 3-1 mark against league foes.

California is headed in the opposite direction, with losses in its last two games. The Golden Bears nearly upset UCLA last weekend, but fell short in a 36-34 final. It was a much better showing than the previous week, when they were routed, 31-7, by Washington at home. Cal is 4-3 overall, but only 2-3 in conference.

The basketball program is facing allegations for about a two to three year time frame.
