Data Shows Salaries Increasing At University of Illinois

A review of data from the University of Illinois' Urbana-Champaign campus shows salaries are edging back up.

According to reports, payroll at the campus increased by about 3 percent this year and more people are earning $150,000 or more. The newspaper reports the school released salary data to media in response to Freedom of Information Act requests.

Data show the biggest paychecks go to the Illini football and basketball coaches. Other top earners are deans and administrators. The campus has 32 employees who earn $300,000 or more, up from 22 in fall 2012.

Total campus payroll for the fiscal year ending in June 2015 is $631.2 million. School officials credit the 3 percent increase in that figure to a salary program announced in June.
