(New York, NY) -- The Knicks got above .500 for the first time in a long time with a 96-93 win over the Hornets at Madison Square Garden behind 28 points from Carmelo Anthony. At 2-and-1, New York hasn't been in this position since an opening night win against the Bucks last season. 'Melo scored his 20,000th point on a three pointer in the first quarter becoming the 40th player in NBA history to accomplish the feat. Amar'e Stoudemire added a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Iman Shumpert was the only other Knicks player in double figures with 15 points. Al Jefferson paced Charlotte in the loss with 21 points. Lance Stephenson filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as the Hornets fell to 1-and-2.
