Monticello Stoms Back To Top Elmwood-Brimfield

As heard on 95.9 WEZC and dewittdailynews.com, the Monticello Sages overcame a three-touchdown deficit Saturday afternoon to top Elmwood/Brimfield Trojans 45-43 in the first round of the Class 3A IHSA playoffs.

width=For the Sages (7-3), Brandon Wildman finished 33-45 for 370 yards through the air with three touchdowns and 2 picks, including a three yard touchdown pass to Ryne Bundy with under a minute to play to tie the game at 43.

Bundy finished with 9 catches for an impressive 143 yards and two touchdowns.

Noah Freemon had seven catches for 63 yards and a touchdown, which was an improbable catch from Tyus Welter on a broken play intended to go to Wildman, instead Freemon snatched the tip pass in the back of the end zone for a crucial score right before halftime.

Clay Becker had 9 carries for 50 yards and also had 6 catches for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Jacob Burton had seven catches for 70 yards.

Tune in next week on 95.9 WEZC or stream live on dewittdailynews.com next Saturday as the Sages will host the Wilmington Wildcats.
