There's been some question about whether Bruce Rauner will be able to work with the Democratic leadership in Springfield if he wins the election. Former Governor Jim Edgar says things may not be great to start but in the end, he has no doubt that things will be OK.
Edgar says things changed when Madigan realized he could trust him at his word. He says they managed to get quite a bit accomplished during his terms in office, between 1991 and 1999. The state was in the red when Edgar took office but he and the legislature managed to turn that into a surplus by the time Edgar left office.
