Governor Quinn wants lawmakers to raise the minimum wage by the end of the year but he'll have a bit of competition when it comes to convincing lawmakers. Todd Maisch, with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, says they'll be fighting against it.
Maisch says raising the minimum wage will force businesses to cut jobs. That's one reason why Republicans in Springfield have been reluctant to support the hike. They've given no indication that they'll give the plan a thumbs up now, even though Quinn wants it to be part of his lasting legacy as governor of Illinois.
