Police Say Urbana Man Threatens Meter Reader With Gun

Urbana Authorities have charged an Urbana man who they say threatened a meter reader while holding a handgun.

Reports indicate 55-year-old James Bantz was charged Wednesday with felony intimidation as well as misdemeanor counts of aggravated assault and unlawful use of weapons.

Urbana Sgt. Dan Morgan says the meter reader reported Bantz emerged from his house with the gun and was yelling at him to turn the power back on. The meter reader got into his truck and left before contacting police.

Morgan says police recovered three guns that Bantz legally owned.

He was ordered held on $75,000 bond. Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
