Illinois Group Builds Home For Disabled Adults

A central Illinois organization is breaking ground on a group home for people with developmental disabilities to replace a building that was severely damaged by a 2013 tornado.

Reports say the Association for the Developmentally Disabled of Woodford County is constructing a 3,000-square-foot residence for up to eight adults in Eureka. The groundbreaking is set for Thursday afternoon.

The group's president and CEO Keith McArdle says it decided to construct a new building to fit its needs rather than renovate a single-family home after the tornado damaged the group's building in Washington.

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2015. It will be funded by the group's funds and private investments.
