Congressman Davis Says Wage Increase Must Include Comprehensive Tax Reform

With the prospect of increasing the minimum wage in Illinois while neighboring states keeping theirs lower, some worry that will put the Land of Lincoln at a disadvantage from other states. Even President Barack Obama said increasing the Federal Minimum Wage would be better at making things more fair from state-to-state. Congressman Rodney Davis says any increase in the federal minimum wage must be paired with comprehensive tax reform

Davis says the Congressional Budget Office indicates hundreds of thousands of people could lose their jobs across the country if there was an increase in the minimum wage to ten-ten and hour. Voters in four different states voted in favor of a binding referendum to increase their minimum wage. Illinois voters voted in favor of a nonbinding referendum to increase the states' minimum wage.
