Treasurer Race Down to Hundreds of Votes

The race for Treasurer still isn’t finished and it’s only getting closer, just hundreds of vote now separate the two candidates.

Votes are still being counted in Chicago as mail-in ballots are being tabulated in the razor thin race between Republican Tom Cross and Democrat Mike Frerichs. Cross still has the lead – a miniscule 677 votes - as election officials say that Democrat Mike Frerichs picked up 9,446 votes in Chicago while Cross added 2,043 from mail-in ballots.

Mail-in ballots from all over the state are being tabulated. Cross has seen gains from other areas but Frerichs has moved ever closer to Cross closing the gap with votes counted in Chicago and other large metro areas in the state.
