A Danville-area teenager is preparing Thanksgiving baskets for 100 needy families - and helping fill a void in her own life.
Cassidy Bryant is a 15-year-old sophomore at Bismarck-Henning High School. Reports indicate that she accepted the challenge while attending a conference last summer with her youth group at Second Church of Christ in Danville.
Bryant is an honor student and athlete who baby-sits after school. A bake sale raised money for turkeys and pies. Her family, church and school helped collect trimmings.
Thanksgiving was a holiday Bryant spent with grandparents who both died in recent years. Her brother was killed in an auto crash last year.
Bryant says instead of being alone and feeling sorry, her project "puts the focus on other people.
