Variance And Special Use Request Shot Down By County Board

A request for a special use permit from WC Media failed to gain support from the DeWitt Count Board Thursday night.

County Zoning Administrator Mike Bradford brought the request for variance and special use of signs and billboards in DeWitt County, however, the Board has the final say on approval of special use permits, and denied the request. Bradford explains the variances have already been considered by the Regional Planning Commission and rejected by the Zoning Board of Appeals.

There would be 220 feet from the particular residence which will be next to the billboard and it would be facing toward Route 51 instead of the residence. According to Bradford though, the variance was asked for due to the placement of power lines.

Board Chair Sherrie Brown felt there were too many concerns to vote in favor of the variance and special use request. The requests failed due to lack of motion from any Board Member.
