 width=The Chicago Cubs have selected pitcher C.J. Edwards' contract from Double-A Tennessee.

Edwards, 23, is 14-7 with a 1.86 ERA in 50 minor league outings (49 starts) over three seasons. The right-hander was acquired from Texas in the trade that sent Matt Garza to the Rangers in July 2013.

The move announced Thursday puts the Cubs. 40-man roster at 39.
