Illini Baseball Team in Dominican Republic

 width=On a sunny Sunday at the Dominican Republic Air Force Base, Illinois won the opening game of its foreign tour, defeating the Dominican Air Force, 10-4. Sophomore Pat McInerney crushed a three-run homer to start a six-run rally with two outs in the fourth inning that solidified the victory. Senior starter Drasen Johnson earned the win with one run over five solid innings, while four other pitchers each tossed an inning to close out the contest.

Three Illini, Walton, Goldstein and Ryne Roper, registered two hits apiece, as the Illini turned in an impressive offensive output with 11 hits and capitalized on three errors by the Dominican Air Force.

Illinois will play a split-squad game against the New York Yankees Dominican Instructional League team on Monday.
