Maroons Fall to Olympia

 width=The Olympia Spartans used a huge third quarter to carry them past the Clinton Maroons in the season opener for both teams Monday night from the GCMS Holiday Tournament in Gibson City.

The Spartans outscored the Maroons 14-8 en route to a 64-46 victory.

For the Maroons (0-1), Jacob Overton had 17 points, Peyton McCubbin had 15 points, Bowe Carter had 9 points.

Olympia had four players score in double-figures led by Ashton Beachy and Thomas Hallstein with 15 points apiece. Justin Slager chipped in with 14 and Collin Loeffler added 11.

The Maroons are back in action tonight at 8 pm as they take on tournament host GCMS.

One other game in the Central Illinois Conference Monday night saw Meridian edge Raymond Lincolnwood 61-59.
