ISU QB Receives National Recognition

width=After previously collecting Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer and Offensive Player of the Week honors, Illinois State junior quarterback Tre Roberson was named as the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer of the Week and National Quarterback of the Week on Tuesday.

The CFPA weekly honor is the first for Roberson this season, however he was among 30 players named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy Watch List in October, along with teammate Marshaun Coprich.

Roberson was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week for the third time this season and also earned MVFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, after he accounted for over 400 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in leading No. 7 Illinois State to a 44-29 victory over Southern Illinois and a share of the MVFC title.

Roberson and the Redbirds earned a first-round bye in the FCS playoffs, before they host the winner of the first-round contest between fellow Missouri Valley Conference member Northern Iowa and Stephen F. Austin at Hancock Stadium on Dec. 6 at 1 p.m.
