CDC: Smoking Rate At 50-Year Low

Fewer people are lighting up today than in the past 50 years.  A survey conducted by the CDC indicates about 43-million people smoke cigarettes.  That's fewer than 18 percent of Americans, the lowest portion of the population reported since the survey started in 1965.  The total number of cigarette smokers is down about seven percent since 2005.  Of those who do smoke, only about three-quarters said they smoke every day.
