Monday night saw the DeWitt County Board receive a major facelift as five new members were sworn in and a new Board Chair was elected.
David Newberg was named the new DeWitt County Board Chair at Monday night's meeting by a vote of 8-2 with one abstention. Camille Redman was elected vice chair by the same number of votes.

The new Board also approved a motion to reinstate the Standing Committee Structure which was discarded for the last two years. The motion was approved by a vote of 9-3. Ron Savage, Sherrie Brown and Terry Hoffman were the "no" votes. Newberg says the committee system will move DeWitt County forward in a positive way with experienced leaders at the helm.

Redman echoed Newberg's feelings by saying the Board has two years of lost time to make up for. She mentioned they plan to work hard to serve the taxpayers they represent.

The Chairs for each committee are as follows:
Public Safety- Danny Ballenger, Vice Chair- Sue Whitted
Road and Bridge- Melonie Tilley, Vice Chair- Randy Perring
Marina- Danny Ballenger, Vice Chair -Terry Ferguson
Land Use- Sue Whitted, Vice Chair- Melonie Tilley
Finance- Camille Redman, Vice Chair -Terry Ferguson
Property- Terry Ferguson Vice Chair-Cris Rogers
Newberg emphasized that each committee will have a Board Member representing each district.
