The principal of a high school in eastern Illinois is advising students to exercise caution on social media after a student from a neighboring school was suspended for racist remarks shared via Twitter.
Darren Loschen, principal of Armstrong Township High School, says it's important that teens take a step back and evaluate what they've written before posting. He says teens need to think about the potential consequences of their words, especially those that come from anger or frustration, before they're shared on the Internet.
Reports indicate a female student from Oakwood High School in Fithian was suspended for five days after posting about the rioting in Ferguson, Missouri, following the grand jury decision not the indict a white police officer in the killing of an unarmed black man.
