Police Say East Peoria Man Robbed In Craigslist Deal

Police are investigating after an East Peoria man reported being attacked and robbed of two cellphones when responding to a Craigslist advertisement.

According to reports, the man tells police he agreed to buy a Samsung cellphone in a grocery store parking lot over the weekend. He says he tried to walk away after discovering the cellphone he was offered wasn't the one advertised but the seller hit him in the back of the head and he fell to the ground.

The man says the suspect then knocked him unconscious and robbed him of two cell phones worth a total of $900.

A grocery store manager says she saw a fight in progress in the parking lot but couldn't find anyone when she went outside. Police say security footage wasn't immediately available.
