United Health Foundation Ranks Healthiest States In America

The United Health Foundation is out with its rankings of the healthiest states in America. Dr. Reed Tuckson is a Medical Advisor with the United Health Foundation and says obesity across the country is on the rise.

Dr. Tuckson says people need to take care of their own health.

Some states did well in certain areas of health. Colorado was number one in the fewest incidence of people with obesity and number one for the most active population. Ohio and Nevada's strengths in the survey was their high rate of high school graduation, which contributes to the health of individuals. California did well in having a low prevalence of smoking, people being inactive, and obesity. The 25th edition of America's Health Rankings evaluates how each state is performing on a variety of important health measures.
