DeWitt County Board Names New State's Attorney

width=The vacant DeWitt County State's Attorney position was filled at Thursday's DeWitt County Board Meeting.

The DeWitt County Republican Central Committee recommended Daniel P. Markwell (right, with Judge Koritz) for State's Attorney to the Board. Chairman of the Republican Committee, Dustin Peterson explained Markwell, who comes from Clinton County, received a unanimous vote from the Republican Committee and comes highly recommended by his peers. The State's Attorney job was recently left open due to Karle Kortiz accepting the position of Circuit Judge.

Board Member Terry Hoffman questioned if the Board had received Markwell's resume so they could understand who they were appointing but Newberg believes the process had been done correctly and it was the Board's job to vote on the Republican Party's recommendation.
