Most experts don't expect to see any real improvement in the protection of privacy rights online within the next decade. More than half of the technology researchers and policymakers taking part in a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center and Elon University said it's unlikely that a secure privacy rights infrastructure will be in place by 2025. The survey concluded that personal data is now the raw material of the knowledge economy. That means anyone operating online should expect to be under some type of surveillance.
