>>Twins, Hughes Agree To Extension

(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Minnesota Twins are rewarding Phil Hughes with a contract extension. The two sides have agreed to a 42-million-dollar deal that will keep him in Minnesota until 2019. The new contract restructures the two remaining seasons on Hughes' free agent contract, and adds three more. The 28-year-old enjoyed a career-year in 2014, going 16-and-10 with a 3.52 ERA in 32 starts for the Twins.

The Pittsburgh Pirates submitted the highest bid for the negotiating rights to Korean
shortstop Jung Ho Kang.

The Pirates now have 30 days to try and work out a contract with Kang.

Kang, 27, hit .356 with 40 home runs and 117 RBI over 117 games last season for the Nexen Heroes.
