Minimum Wage Hikes Affecting Pay At 1400 Walmart Stores

Pay is going up at more than 14-hundred Walmart stores as more than 20 states raise their minimum wage.  Walmart says it's adjusting pay rates to comply with the law in 21 states that will raise their minimum wage on or around January 1st.  Those changes include combining the company's three lowest pay grades, which cover cashiers, cart pushers and maintenance workers, into one base rate.  Walmart also will narrow the pay gap between higher skilled positions such as deli workers and department supervisors, and lower paying jobs.  Walmart is the nation's biggest private employer, with one-point-three million workers on its payroll.
