An eastern Illinois woman who admitted she knew her boyfriend was sexually abusing young children has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Reports indicate 37-year-old Kristy J. Wines of Thomasboro was sentenced Tuesday in Urbana after pleading guilty last month to one count of permitting the sexual abuse of a child. Thomasboro is about 10 miles north of Champaign.

Wines' boyfriend, Lyn Niemann, is serving a life sentence after his conviction in April of predatory criminal sexual assault of three boys.

Wines and Niemann lived together while the crimes occurred.

During Wines' sentencing, Judge Heidi Ladd called her callous and depraved for not trying to stop Niemann.
